Is Palliative Care Right for You?

Palliative Care may be right for you if you suffer from pain, stress or other distressing symptoms due to a serious illness. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment. Palliative Care is helpful for treatment of all types of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

  • Cancer
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • End State Renal Disease (ESRD)
  • Liver Failure
  • Neurological/Stroke
  • Dementia/Alzheimer’s
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

How does it work?

Our Palliative Care team coordinates with your Attending Physician to provide you and your family with extra support and the opportunity to discuss and establish your individual goals of care.

Where do I receive Palliative Care?

In coordination with your Attending Physician, our Palliative Care team, including a physician, nurse practitioner, and nurse navigator, provides care for patients in the inpatient hospital setting and at an outpatient clinic two days a week. Additionally, our Palliative Care team makes services available to patients in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Golden Isles Palliative Care partners with Southeast Georgia Health System to operate a Palliative Care Center at the Brunswick campus. Palliative Care services at Southeast Georgia Health System include inpatient hospital consultations and an outpatient clinic two days a week. Additionally, our Palliative Care team makes services available to patients in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

The Southeast Georgia Health System Palliative Care Center is located in the Outpatient Care Center at the Brunswick campus:

How is Palliative Care paid for?

Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover Palliative Care. If the cost of care concerns you, a member of our care team is available to discuss your options.

How do I get Palliative Care?

Ask your doctor or nurse for a referral to Golden Isles Palliative Care or call us for more information at 912.289.9200. Our office is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
